I write award-winning novels, collaborate on books with others, and own a bookstore called Nooks with my wife and fellow writer Maile Silva. We have six children and live in Lancaster, PA.

One of my favorite quotes comes from John Irving’s book, A Prayer For Owen Meany: “If you’re lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.” In writing and reading, I’ve found a way of life that I love. Maybe you have, too, in writing or painting or photography or some other beautiful way of living and being. Maybe this could be a place where we can help keep each other courageous, pursuing the ways of life that we love.
