Today I continue talking about this space between first draft writing and revising, the various things I'm doing in that time, and why I wrote a new first chapter to go at the beginning of the story.
I think it's important to give yourself a little time and space between finishing the first draft and revising--it gives you fresh eyes when you start reading back through what you've written, and it gives the story some time to marinate in your mind. This is also a good time to organize any major plot or character changes that have taken place during the writing of the first draft.
All of that and more in today's video.
