Digging deeper into the concept of scenes and why I had an unsettled feeling about the scene I've been talking about. I come to some conclusions about why that scene originally didn't work and what I'm trying to do to help the scene contribute better to the storyline.
Scenes are the building blocks of your story.
Sometimes in novels, because of their length, it's easier to think you can include some throwaway scenes, scenes that don't necessarily contribute to the plot movement but contain important information or character development...but I think we need to challenge that notion. Every scene must contribute. Today, I talk more about that.
