Have you ever felt like the tide has turned in your work, like you've somehow gotten over a barrier, even a barrier you weren't conscious of, and suddenly the wheels are rolling smoothly and now, finally, you're making progress?
That's how I felt this week with my current novel. The barriers are down, at least for now. It's a good feeling. And I know it's had something to do with getting through the crossroads of big decisions last week. My mind is clearer now. My senses are a bit heightened...maybe I'm turning into Spiderman!
In today's video, I talk about these things, my current strategy for writing, and how John Steinbeck's words in Working Days are my focus: "Take it easy...keep the frantic quality out of my approach."
As always, if you’d like access to all of my Video of a Novel videos, simply subscribe to a paying subscription below! Not only will you be able to watch the entire series documenting the writing of this particular novel, you’ll also be supporting our podcast, The Stories Between Us, and all the other creative work we do. Thank you!
(And if you missed it, this week’s podcast is perhaps our most vulnerable episode ever. We're talking about taking chances, living life in unpredictable (and sometimes inexplicable) ways, and, in the words of Ethan Hawke, "playing the fool." Specifically, we share about our life as two freelancers, finding work, and occasionally (almost) running out of money. This one is real, folks. Proceed with caution. You can listen to it HERE.)
