By now you know that this little “video of a novel” experiment is based on John Steinbeck's Journal of a Novel. I was curious to see what his mindset was like, 42 days in, about the same length of time that I've been working on this particular manuscript. So I counted out the journal entries in his book, and today I'm reading from that journal entry. It was actually quite enlightening to read about his experience at this precise time, and makes me wonder if there’s something common that many writers hit at about the 40-day mark.
How about you...have you hit something like this at around the same time?
