The heaviness of the world is weighing on all of us. This morning before school and after our Lenten reading with the older four kids around the dining room table, we all sat there in silence, no one saying anything. No one had anything to say. It was a moment when we all just sat, wordless, breathing, wondering.
May I suggest that if you feel like you don’t know what to do, you take a moment today to create something that brings you peace or joy or wonder?

Today is a very normal Friday morning at the end of a busy week. I talk about my current word count, how I feel the work is progressing, and the importance of specificity in characterization (and how that can lead to new and interesting plot points).
I also read a paragraph from Madeleine L'Engle's Walking on Water and wonder what it would look like to recapture my childhood imagination. What can we do if we’ve lost the “newborn quality of belief which is so lovely in the child”?
