In the wonderful book, How Fiction Works, by James Wood, he talks about the term "thisness" as being a detail that conveys a very particular thing, and that thing gives us a palpable sense for the scene, the character, and the story. So this week I've been focusing on detail, and "thisness," for a few different reasons. I talk about that in the video.
Also, this morning is a good example of trying to fit our writing into normal life...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And that's okay. As long as we keep writing...
