Continuing to feel a bit stuck, and with my character Lloyd wandering around in a garage, I talk about the best way out of that stuck feeling. In the words of George Saunders, "You don't need an idea to start a story. You just need a sentence."
Too often our stuckness, in anything in life really, comes out of a place of desiring perfection, of refusing to move forward until we can envision each and every step and know what the outcome will be.
Maybe it’s just time to make a decision. Maybe it’s time to stop waiting for the idea and just write the sentence.
