This week ended up spiraling into chaos. A girl backed into the side of our car in the high school parking lot. I’m waiting to hear back regarding work and a few writing projects. Our minivan has been giving us some problems. When you have two junkers, and suddenly both are causing you to ask questions about their ongoing existence, it’s not fun.
But life goes on. And late last night Leo came into our bathroom with a grin on his face. His tooth had gotten a lot more loose. He showed us. Maile offered to pull it. He reluctantly agreed, so she grabbed on, and with the tiniest of snapping sounds, out it came.
There is still something so miraculous about life, even when things aren’t going the way you had hoped or planned.
Later that night, after everyone was asleep, I crept into Leo’s room, took that tiny tooth out of the box where he had placed it, and replaced it with a few dollars. Our tooth fairy is basically the least reliable of all the fantastical holiday visitors.
When Leo woke up this morning, I could hear him shout. “There’s money in the box!”
Here are a few things for your weekend:
- A teenager writes about creating in the 21st century: “Because of this deep-rooted obsession of avoiding boredom, thousands of teenagers are turning away from creativity and towards constant entertainment, and it is getting harder and harder to resist.”
- This book is going to be so good: Special Grace: Prayers and Reflections for Families with Special Needs
