I’m feeling a lot better than I was feeling last week at this time, when I was recovering from a night of fever-induced hallucinations. The sun is out, a cool spring breeze is blowing, and there’s a fun weekend ahead: our two middle schoolers have a spring dance tonight, and our two high schoolers have their prom tomorrow night.
The word hope continues to be at the forefront of my mind these days. How do we as writers, as humans, continue to hope for things when they seem so unlikely, or when we’ve been disappointed in the past? How can we keep writing when the act itself seems so unimportant, unnecessary, or pointless?
Hope. It’s the only way forward.
